Do I have to audition?No! None of the Newport Sings programs require an audition; just a love of singing!

I don't read music. Can I still join?Absolutely! Newport Sings welcomes singers of all musical levels. No matter what your previous musical experience and background, our programs will allow you to grow and have fun doing it!

How much does it cost to join?Most of the Newport Sings programs are free. The fee to sing with Aquidneck Singers is a sliding scale; singers can choose the amount that works best for them and their budget.

What is the commitment if I join a choir?All programs meet once a week for either 60- or 90-minutes. The Newport County Youth Chorus is offered in 6-week sessions. The teen/adult choruses meet in the fall and spring (12-15 weeks each) culminating in a performance. Rehearsals are designed to build on the skills and music learned at the previous rehearsal and our practice of singing as an ensemble every week is an important part of our success. Therefore, weekly attendance for the duration of the session/semester is expected.

Do the choirs perform? If so, how often?Newport Sings hosts two concerts per year: one in early December and one in early May. The choirs are also regularly invited to sing at events in the community. Newport Sings will notify the group of the added opportunities as far in advance as possible.
